Sunday Jam

Posted by fingersyeats on February 5, 2010 at 11:27 AM

As a musician who has played in most parts of the world with some of the worlds top bands for the last 40 odd years I find the decision to stop the Lordy Sunday Jam as extraordinary. The Sunday Jam was there not only for the enjoyment of every body that attended but also to give up and coming young and old musicians a chance to do there thing in front on a live audience. Gibraltar is a small place but its musical talent out ways its size and the Lord Nelson Sunday Jam sessions was one place in Gibraltar they could shine. The Lordy became a place where musicians would meet, get to know each other and even form new bands in fact it became a family of friends. The Navy, Army who come to Gib would head strait to the Lordy knowing there was live music and Jam, there musicians getting up and jamming there mates egging them on. If all this is to be lost in favor of a theme night/disco/solo artist on a Sunday night it will be a great shame. Stan and Zooney have for many years done a great job, if this was the UK they would be snapped up. Long may they continue Your Respectfully a musician of the world.
